17 recipes from the Egyptian cuisine: 5- Shish Tawook

Shish tawook is chicken chunks made of chicken thighs marinated with yoghurt and lemon juice and some other spices you will find it sold in the super market specially made for shish tawook.

This recipe mainly eaten in middle eastern countries. Whether it is grilled or cooked in the oven it is very delicious both ways.

The ingredients:

For two people:

½ kg of shish tawook (chicken thigh chunks)
Wooden sticks
1 cup Yoghurt
Lemon juice of 4 lemons
The packet of spices from super market if you did not find any, put some paprika, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, chicken spices mixed together with the yoghurt.

How it is made?

the chicken chunks should be put in the mix of yoghurt and the spices for at least two hours then prepare it to grill or put in the oven. The wood sticks can be used in both ways.

Bring one stick put one piece of onion then one bell pepper then one chunks of chicken, repeat until you find five piece on the wooden stick. Repeat the process until the whole amount is prepared.

Grill it or put in oven and check it to make sure it is cooked. It takes 30 minutes or more minutes if needed, But no longer than that.
