1- Depression

Sitting for five hours a day in front of a computer screen can gradually increase the risk of depression and insomnia.

A recent survey of 25,000 workers, many complained of feeling depressed, anxious and reluctant to get up for work in the mornings.

Dr. Tetsuya Nakazawa, at Chiba University in Japan, said: ‘ This result suggests the prevention of mental disorders and sleep disorders requires the restriction of computer use to less than five hours a day.’

The results, published in the American Journal of Industrial Medicine, showed one in four staff spent at least five hours a day at their terminal.

If there were no preventive measures for improving one’s spiritual condition, the rising depression might also cause physical harm.

2- Neck and Back Pain

Staying a lot in one position causes neck, shoulder and back pain, and sometimes leg pain, poor muscle tone, inhibited nerves, and poor blood circulation. These are the most widely spread ones, but there are more.

Weak spinal muscles might lead to vertebral displacements, which in turn might hurt or even cut nerves or blood vessels causing terrible back pain and other health issues.

3- Metabolic Disorders

Dr. Mercola, an osteopathic physician and New York Times bestselling author, suggests that prolonged sitting is linked to weight gain and associated biochemical changes, such as alterations in hormones, metabolic dysfunction, leptin dysfunction, and inflammation – all of which could promote cancer.

A long period of sitting causes relaxation of the abdominal muscles. The mushy muscles lead to obesity, which prevents from proper breathing and triggers other issues.

4- Heart Diseases

The lack of physical activity inhibits our muscles. That leads to lowering of the rate of burning fats and slow blood flow. Therefore, the velocity of oxygen transport will decrease markedly leading to minor problems and other fatal ones as a heart attack.
