Dehydration Might Kill You

At the beginning, it is dangerous for you to be dehydrated. Dehydration is a condition in which your body doesn’t have a number of fluids especially water. Your body needs to function properly.

Causes of Dehydration

1- Pure water loss as during a loss of consciousness.

2- Pure NaCl loss due to the very deficient intake.

3- Mixed water and NaCl loss which is more common due to many reasons as:

– Excessive sweating. If you are doing an activity, Hot and moist weather increases the amount of sweat and the amount of fluid you lose. So, you must replace fluids that you have lost to avoid dehydration.

– Vomiting and diarrhea. If they are Acute, can cause a massive loss of water and electrolytes in a short amount of time. If you have vomiting along with diarrhea, you lose even more fluids and minerals.

– Extensive burns, also, causes sudden loss of blood plasma, so your body may be shocked if not treated fast.

If mild

1- Cold, wrinkled skin, sunken eyes, depressed fontanels of infant skull.

2- Marked thirst.

3- Loss of body weight

4- Rise of body temperature

5- Hypotension and oliguria

6- slightly parched mouth and You might begin to experience headaches and dizziness

7- The general feeling of tiredness

If sever

1- anuria occurs or having only a very small output of urine when attempting to urinate.

2- You could develop a fever

3- Severe dizziness could occur

4- a rapid heart rate that occurs at rest, and when doing nothing strenuous

5- blood pressure might also begin to drop at moments when you stand up after lying down for a period

The only effective treatment for dehydration is to exchange lost fluids and lost electrolytes. The simplest approach to dehydration treatment depends on age, the severity of dehydration and its cause.

Most adults with mild to moderate dehydration from diarrhea, vomiting or fever can improve their condition by drinking more water or other liquids. Diarrhea may be worsened by full-strength fruit juice and soft drinks.

If you work or exercise outdoors during hot or moist weather, cool water is your best choice. Sports drinks containing electrolytes and a carbohydrate solution also may be helpful.

Children and adults who are dehydrated severely should be treated in a hospital emergency room. They should be given fluids orally or intravenous isotonic saline or glucose solution Salts because they are absorbed quickly and speed recovery
